So, virtual training? Positives, negatives?
Here at FAB we’ve been doing Zoom workouts since last March. We spent summer having a couple workouts outside, which was more than fun, but for the most part….we’ve been seeing each other through the screen. Who would have guessed this? I was talking to my instructors last night and we talked about some things we missed from outside. The fresh air, the face to face contact with our boot campers, and the creativity of the parks as spaces to get stronger in. But, over this past year, I’ve noticed some positives about our Zoom workouts, and I’d like to talk about those too.
Consistency: So many boot campers are coming more often. They only have to roll out of bed and pick up their weights and get moving! It is great to see so many of the same faces setting up an awesome healthy routine for themselves during this difficult time.
Having to create our own creative workouts as trainers: Let’s be honest, we are pretty restricted as trainers as far as what we have to work with as far as our boot campers’ space and equipment. However, this has forced us to get creative and have a little fun! I did a Hamilton workout, and a Presidents workout for the inauguration. One of our instructors does a gratitude and attitude workout the first Saturday of every month.
I swear, these workouts are harder. No gabbing in between sets? Sweating in my own home? Or is it just the dedication to making sure our clients are getting the best workout possible since they are on Zoom. I’m not sure, but it feels so good to sweat SOO much in the beginning of my day.
It’s the little things. I still think we all wish we were doing these outside. But, I’ve become thankful for the little things. Like, I still get to teach these classes. And my bootcampers still get a good workout. We are a little more thankful these days. And that feels nice.
All that said…..we are planning on having TWO classes a week outside starting March 1st, when it warms a little bit. We are looking so forward to that. Tell your people, spread the word. Lets get out there and move our bodies, 6 feet away from each other :)
