FAQs
“I am out shape and have never done anything like this before. I don’t think I can do it!”
YOU ARE NOT ALONE in thinking this! Everyone has to start somewhere! Bootcamp is a perfect place to be surrounded by people who asked themselves the same question before joining. No one is born knowing how to do a Burpee or having the endurance of a marathon runner. You will learn the “lingo” and build your endurance and strength one class at a time, just like everybody else. AND, ALL EXERCISES CAN BE MODIFIED TO YOUR LEVEL! We give modifications in every class. There are always people who are nursing injuries, or are just getting back into working out after having a baby or have been sedentary.
“I can’t run so I won’t be able to keep up with the group!”.
Running and jogging are a minimal part of the training at bootcamp. And, CAN BE *MODIFIED TO YOUR LEVEL! If there is a portion of class that we are jogging or running, we make sure that there is also a place for others to catch up. It would be impossible to have a class full of runners who are all at the exact same pace!
*If you have serious mobility/health issues, this may not be the right class for you, just give us a call so we can talk it through and determine if it is a good fit.
Will you YELL AT ME?!
No! That is not our style! If you are looking for an intimidating military boot camp drill instructor then our bootcamp may not be for you. Our style is positive and encouraging and welcoming. We design workouts that may push you to your limits but no yelling involved! We want classes to be fun and give you a great workout.
What do you do at bootcamp?
A typical bootcamp format looks like this:
- Warm up
- Cardio and or Strength Drills or Games
- Tabata or HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) Drills
- Core and Abdominal Exercises
- Stretch
What do I need to bring?
Water bottle
Mat
Light weights (around 3-10 pounds)
Light gloves (mainly for Fall/Winter)
What if it rains?
We still hold class! We have amazingly good luck and it hardly ever rains on us, sometimes just a light drizzle that really doesn't get in the way of the workout. We also get creative and try to find places to workout where we can stay dry (tree canopies, tunnels, etc.). During the winter months at Phinney Center, we have an indoor space we can use in case of rain. We average about seven times inside at the Phinney Center ALL winter!
Which classes can I attend if I signed up for monthly unlimited?
You are welcome to attend any bootcamp classes we have to offer and there is no need to make a reservation.
